Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 3 cups (tea cups) of all-purpose flour
- 3 cups (tea cups) of raw, chopped carrots (450 grams)
- 2 cups (tea cups) of sugar
- 1 cup (tea cup) of vegetable oil
- 1 cup (tea cup) of milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
For the Syrup:
- 1 cup (tea cup) of chocolate milk powder
- 1 cup (tea cup) of milk
- ½ cup (tea cup) of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
For the Topping:
- 330 grams of semi-sweet chocolate, melted
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a rectangular baking pan.
- In a blender, combine the chopped carrots, milk, oil, and salt. Blend for 5 minutes.
- Add the sugar and blend again until incorporated.
- Pour this mixture into a large bowl. Gradually add the sifted flour, mixing with a whisk until the batter is uniform.
- Gently fold in the baking powder.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan until just warm. Do not unmold.
- Use a fork to poke holes all over the surface of the cake.
- For the syrup: In a saucepan, combine the chocolate powder, milk, sugar, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Let it boil for 3 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Slowly pour the hot syrup evenly over the entire cake, allowing it to soak in.
- Finally, spread the melted chocolate over the top of the cake with the back of a spoon.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before serving, letting the topping set.
