Oh, my darlings! Today, Grandma is going to share a little family secret: how to make those homemade chicken nuggets you love so much! And I must send a thank you to the ‘Menino Prendado’ channel on YouTube for the lovely inspiration.
It’s easier than you think, and the smell that fills the kitchen is just wonderful.

Homemade chicken nuggets
They come out crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside that they just melt in your mouth. Now, let’s put on our aprons!
Grandma’s Ingredients
For the Chicken Mixture:
- 500g of boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into little cubes
- 1 farm-fresh egg, if you have one!
- 1 generous tablespoon of oat bran (it’s good for you!)
- Seasonings to taste: salt, a tiny pinch of black pepper, garlic powder, sweet paprika, and some dried parsley for a bit of color.
For the Breading:
- 1 egg, lightly beaten with a fork
- Half a cup of oat flour, seasoned with a little pinch of salt and paprika.
How to Make Them, With Love
- First, we prepare the chicken. Put all the ingredients for the “chicken mixture” into the blender or that food processor your dad bought. Blend it all up until it becomes a smooth paste. Be careful the flour doesn’t fly everywhere!
- Now for the fun part: shaping! Rub a little oil on your hands so it doesn’t stick. Take small portions of the mixture and make little balls, then flatten them into the nugget shape you like. You can make stars, hearts… use your imagination!
- Time for the egg bath and the flour! Dip each nugget first into the beaten egg, then roll it in the seasoned oat flour until it’s nicely coated.
- Ready for the oven! Place the nuggets on a greased baking tray, all neat and tidy, without crowding them. Pop them into the oven, already preheated to 180°C (350°F), for about 30 minutes. Keep an eye on them! When they’re golden brown and smell delicious, they’re ready.
Grandma’s Serving Tip
Take them out of the oven carefully so you don’t burn yourselves! Let them cool for just a minute and serve with a yogurt dip, homemade ketchup, or your favorite sauce. It’s a real treat!
